Partner Organization: World Resources Institute

Fellowship Role: Audit and Accounting Fellow

Organization Overview:
World Resources Institute (WRI) is a global research organization that spans more than 50 countries, with offices in Brazil, China, Europe, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and the United States. Our more than 450 experts and staff work closely with leaders to turn big ideas into action to sustain our natural resources—the foundation of economic opportunity and human well-being.

We envision an equitable and prosperous planet driven by the wise management of natural resources. We aspire to create a world where the actions of government, business, and communities combine to eliminate poverty and sustain the natural environment for all people.

Why we partner with this organization:
WRI is a partner with ProInspire since 2016. WRI fosters a culture of innovative ideas, working collaboratively, and thinking independently. WRI employees are driven by the organization’s mission and have the satisfaction of helping to create a more prosperous and healthy planet. The Fellow’s Manager, Chad Snelgar, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), has been a ProInspire partner since his time at FHI 360, where many Fellows have been able to contribute to the organization’s mission. In 2014, WRI was ranked one of the Top Workplaces by the Washington Post. We think that this would be a great opportunity for Fellows to get a view into the entire organization. The right candidate will be able to work with ambiguity, be adaptable, and having a growth mindset. You can read more about Chad Snelgar here: http://www.wri.org/profile/chad-snelgar

ProInspire Fellow Role Overview:
WRI’s rapid growth – in programs, staff, budget and number of international offices – has resulted in increased need for management capacity. Over the past two years we have significantly increased capacity in all areas of operations: global operations, accounting, finance, technology, and human resources. WRI’s growth in the recent years, both in the Washington, DC office and in the international offices, has resulted in a record number of new staff in every program and grade level. As the international offices are experiencing impressive growth, we recognize our policies are outdated and the procedures need to be adapted to the needs of the other offices.
The Audit & Accounting Fellow will be responsible for supporting auditing, data analysis, managing and completing specially-assigned projects, and improving business processes in accounting, often collaboratively with other functional areas.
