Partner Organization: RETHINK Impact

Fellowship Role: Bank

Organization Overview:
Rethink Impact is a venture capital firm investing in female leaders using technology to solve the world’s biggest problems ($112M record impact fund close with a gender lens). We believe that the next generation of extraordinary companies will find success through their relentless pursuit of mission, for the benefit of all communities. Sectors of focus include health, environmental sustainability, education, and economic empowerment.

ProInspire Fellow Role Overview:
We are flat organization (i.e. This person will work directly with the senior partners) looking for someone who wants to work on all aspects of venture and impact. This person will get to work on an extensive amount of due diligence (complete financial modeling, research different sectors, field customer calls, and write investment memos), find terrific companies (at events, through networks, etc.), generate thought leadership pieces/writing (including investor updates, blog posts, op-ed pieces, etc.), and other tasks as needed based on opportunity.
Background of who we’re looking for:
  • Strong financial skills and a passion for financial analysis (can build and dissect financial models, has analyzed cap tables, etc.)
  • Self-starter/go-getter (we have a lot to do and everyone on the team, from a partner level down, does everything so we’re looking for people who don’t need a lot of direct management/oversight)
  • Someone who likes variety (since we’re a small org, they’ll get exposed to all parts of venture capital)
  • Easy to work with (we have team members around the country so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable interacting not just in person, but by phone, video, etc.)
  • Personable/friendly (need to be able to build great network connections and find terrific entrepreneurs and interact well with our many famous/awesome investors)
  • Humble/little ego (given how flat we are, ideal candidate is not “title” or “career track” obsessed as you might be in a large bureaucratic company, but cares much more about learning and growing from talented colleagues and having an impact on the world)
  • Ideally passionate about social impact and gender equality (given that less than 3% of VC dollars are going to women and the world’s greatest problems are a huge market opportunity for innovation)
  • Ideally diverse background as we believe diverse and inclusive teams lead to better outcomes
While we’re open to a wide range of experiences, a typical candidate probably has had at least two years of investment banking and/or private equity experience (or some equivalent financially-oriented job), some exposure or passion for social impact, and, ideally, connections into the startup community.
